Man, the internet totally blew the surprise, JKR's writing me birthday fic! Yeah yeah, it's first seen the day before technically, but it's online on the 11th, so there you go! And it's about James and Sirius and everything. I am very amused and greatly looking forward to it; how badly can 800 words joss all our fanon anyway? ... wait don't answer that. (No, but seriously, I'm living in optimistic mode whereby I don't think this is really going to throw us any major curveballs.)

Inspired by the occasion, magnetic_pole has decreed that there should be 800_words: Use 800 words exactly, no more, no less, to tell us what happened in the years before Harry's birth. Stake your claim before unexpected new canon hits us! I'd love to contribute something, but um. In the process of being examined right now. We shall see. But fellow Marauder writers, go forth and flashfic away!
